Do you have a comedy concept for film or TV but no clue how to get it to the next level, let alone get it made? Do you want to improve your standup comedy writing skills? Or maybe you just want to learn how to make people laugh?
In this exciting 2 Day course you will learn the skills needed to write stand-up and narrative comedy. Build characters, devise stories and apply time honoured principles of comedy writing to make your own stand-up routine, comedy film or sitcom.
Writers who would like to build their comic skills. Comics who would like to build their writing skills. People who would like to learn how to make other people laugh.
You will work on building and developing your own concepts in comedy whilst exploring the course content. Upon finishing this course you will have learned much about the tricks used to build comedy and be able to apply these to your own writing or comedy development.
All relevant course materials are included.
Participants will be awarded an RMIT Statement of Participation.
Notepaper, pen or a laptop.
Completion of this course will not guarantee entry into an RMIT Program.
Please note, the course facilitators alternate so only one facilitator will run each course.

Adam Rozenbachs is a stand-up comedian, writer, broadcaster, actor and voice over artist who has steadily risen to become one of Australia's funniest and most consistent performers. Adam has performed nine successful Melbourne International Comedy Festival Shows and as a writer, he is one of the most sought after in the country.He is currently writing for Charlie Pickering's The Weekly and Foxtel's Open Slather. He spent several years writing for Before the Game and Logie winner Spicks & Specks, as well as Adam Hills in Gordon Street Tonight. He has written for Mick Molloy's The Nation, Skithouse, Comedy Inc., The Big Bite and The Logies, and in print he has written for the Herald Sun, The Sunday Age, Men's Fitness and Crikey.com.au, among others. Adam is a broadcaster on 774 ABC Radio, co-hosting regularly with Lindy Burns, and is a regular on Triple M’s Hot Breakfast, and Hughesy and Kate on Nova 100.

Andrea Powell is an actor, author and comedian renowned for her characterisations. She has written and performed 13 comedies for theatre, and received three Comedy Awards and one Green Room Awards nomination. Andrea wrote Strain Your Gherkins by Ethel Chop for Penguin Publishers. She has appeared on numerous TV and performed regularly on radio for the past 13 years. She's written for TV, radio and online magazines and directed and script-edited for many performers including comedians Nelly Thomas and Anne Edmonds, cabaret performer Wes Snelling, and sketch artists Girls Uninterrupted.
